7-year friendships
As your life changes, so do your friends
When you think of the friends you’ve lost touch with because life simply got in the way, don’t be down on yourself. It’s the natural order of things.
All friendships have a life cycle and as your life changes, so too do the people who surround you. In fact, research from Utrecht University in the Netherlands indicates that women cycle through half of their friends every seven years.
So which friendships are more prone to the fizzle factor? Usually those based around the same experiences such as work or having children at the same time.
Friendships that last are ones that are constantly developing and nurtured. You must make it a priority to spend time together, physically. Texts and social media just aren’t enough.
A friendship is like any other important relationship – you need to invest in it if you want it to grow.
